The title of my piece is Passengers on the Bus. This is an ACT metaphor. ACT stands for Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. The Metaphor is all about being empowered in the driver seat and always moving in the direction of our dreams rather than be driven or dictated to by the passengers on our bus (ie our thoughts of failure, self-deprecation, keeping safe instead of taking risks etc.). Here is a neat little video explaining this metaphor..

As a practising psychologist the Samaritans have been very important to me both in India and in the UK. I do not provide a crisis intervention service but I am reassured that I can always point my patients to the Samaritans, especially when they are desperate for someone to listen to them. So thank you, Samaritans.

Bio
Trained originally as a psychologist from Oxford University, I now have an MA in Painting from UAL Wimbledon College of the Arts. Much of my art is narrative and figurative, informed by my work with people who come to me for therapy. While painting, I transform mutually felt adversity into something beautiful. My art acts as therapy for myself. I hope it plays the same role for the viewer. One of my paintings, Burnout 1, was selected for inclusion in the Trinity Buoy Wharf Drawing Prize Exhibition of 2019-2020. Another, Friday Evening, was selected for Bloomberg New Contemporaries 2020 Exhibition.
