Oil-based charcoal covered in wax
I was in equal measures excited and apprehensive about doing a Samarivan because I only consider myself capable in portraiture, however when my daughter suggested to turn it upside down, we both saw a face! Dismissing a creepy clown idea, we settled on a friendly robot which whilst not organic, was an interesting compromise to stretch my abilities.
As the only income earner in my family of 4 and in a high pressure career in publishing sales where job security is non-existant, I have often endured periods of high anxiety and found comfort sitting at a piece of paper with my pencil, stick or brush in hand. I am grateful to be a part of this wonderful project as the knowledge that Samaritans are only a phone call away should I ever need them is the support I need when my anxiety gets too much. If my work can help them to help others then I am delighted..
