Mixed media on canvas. At the time of making this, it feels like summer might never really arrive this year, so I wanted to make something which embodied the fun and joy of a warm, sunny day. Sometimes, when the world doesn’t deliver the delight we yearn for, we end up having to find or create it ourselves.
As someone who suffers immensely from Seasonal Affective Disorder, this unusually cloudy year (even for the UK) has taken a huge toll on my mental health. But just knowing the Samaritans are there should I ever need them is comforting. This campaign is crucial in both raising awareness for those who can benefit from knowing help is available, and in ensuring that the Samaritans can continue to provide that help.
